Travelling to the Algarve Soon?

We fully understand if you give it a miss this year, however, if you just simply can’t wait to soak up the Algarve sun and sample our delicious Portuguese food, see here some points we would like to reassure you about:

The Portuguese government has successfully managed to keep the pandemic outbreak at very low numbers and we have started to ease restrictions slowly since beginning of May. Practically everything is open by now: restaurants, golf courses, beaches, sport centres, shops and shopping centres are back in business. There are capacity restrictions in place, so the distancing between tables and people can be implemented. Face masks have to be worn by everybody in confined spaces such as shops and supermarkets. All shops and restaurants provide the possibility to sanitize your hands before going inside and at leaving.

All airplanes have air circulation and air refresh systems on board, similar to what is used in hospitals and their cabin crew is fully updated on the latest health and safety measures. No food and beverages are served on board, so please don’t forget to pack a snack before you leave.

If you are travelling to the Algarve in the near future and have booked your stay with Blue Sky Villas, here is what we are doing to ensure our clients’ safety and health:

  • Our holiday villas and apartments will be throughly disinfected with appropriate cleaning products and as per the government health department’s recommendations. Our team has a checklist of all items that need sanitising on an arrival clean and on daily cleans during your stay.
  • Disinfectant sprays will also be made available for our guest’s use, as well as hand sanitizers, gloves, liquid soap in all bathrooms.
  • The filters of the A/C units will be cleaned on each arrival clean and a special disinfectant spray will be applied to them.
  • We will have an emergency box at the property, in case one of the guests is showing any symptoms. The kit will include water, non-perishable food items, a small covid kit containing a face mask, hand sanitizer and gloves and bin liners, so the possibly infected person can safely isolate in one of the rooms of the villa until you get directions from the health department which can be contacted via their specially dedicated covid19 telephone number.
  • All linen and towels are cleaned with hospital grade disinfectant at Blue Sky Villas’ private and professional laundry.
  • Most villas will have water-proof, but breathable protective pillow covers which will be changed over before any new arrival.
  • You can choose whether or not you want to have the allocated maid service per property for during your stay, if you don’t feel comfortable with the staff entering the villa, no worries!
  • If you do choose to have the maid service, then please be assured that our housekeeping staff will wear the appropriate protective facemask as well as gloves and bring inside shoes. During maid service, we would ask you to not remain in the property, but have a drink or two outside at the pool.
  • The pool quality is strictly monitored and pool surrounds will be disinfected prior to your arrival.
  • If you don’t want to risk going out to restaurants we can organise excellent catering staff to prepare your meals for during your stay, whether it will be a deliciously prepared breakfast with fresh croissants or a home cooked lunch or dinner, even 5 star dining is not a problem.
  • A personal food shop can also be provided prior to your arrival upon request.

We recommend our guests to avoid large gatherings and follow the World Health Organisation basic protective measures:

  1. Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly to kill viruses that may be on your hand
  2. Maintain at least 2 meter distance between yourself and anyone that might be showing any of the symptoms such as coughing or sneezing
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth as your hands may be contaminated
  4. Follow respiratory hygiene by coughing or sneezing onto your elbow
  5. If you have a fever, cough or difficulty in breathing stay home, isolate in on of the rooms and call Portugal’s national health line (SNS24) 808 24 24 24

We think that choosing destinations with lower population density and close to the coast is as safe as it can get, as it will be less polluted with germs than city streets. The Algarve has 90 habitants per square Kilometre, being one of the least dense regions in Europe. Being outside, by the pool or beach, breathing in the fresh air and tanking up on Vitamin D is proven to be an excellent help to keep your immune system strong!

Keeping everyone who works with us and our clients/guests safe is our main priority, as well as making your holiday an unforgettable one. Should you have any questions or have any special requests please do not hesitate to contact our office.

We hope to see you soon, if not this year, than certainly in 2021. Exceptionally early this year, we have made it possible, so that you can already book most of our properties for next year and have something to look forward to.

Sunny and warm greetings from the Algarve, stay safe!
